Review: Natasha Denona Star Eye Palette

This palette was recently released by Natasha Denona as a follow up to her two other palettes. This palette retails for $169 and contains 18 eyeshadows, which means each eyeshadow comes out to $9.39 each. Her palettes are pretty well know for their steep prices, but they are also very pigmented, creamy and high quality. While there was much fiasco about the price vs the ingredients of the palettes when she initially released her first 2 palettes, I've always liked them and have no problems with the quality. I believe this new palette is a reformulation of the original formula and does no contain talc anymore, which I couldn't really care either way. For me the real test will be if the reformulation will still make the price point worth it.

So to start off, let's talk about the color scheme of the palette. The palette leans toward warm colors, which is a good addition to her color line, because the first two palette had a lot of neutral-toned browns, purples and greens. The addition of this color scheme gives her line a broader color range. This also seems to be the color way trend of every palette that's coming out, which I completely don't mind.

I like that she separated the palette into two parts and grouped colors that went well together. For people who are non-makeup artists or just don't want to fuss over what colors to use on their eyelook all the time, this makes it more user-friendly and easier to use.

Now let's talk about the new formulation. I find that I still like them as they still are very pigmented, creamy and  wear for a long time. I am aware that they changed the formulation to remove the talc in the ingredients since that caused some "controversy" when her shadows were initially released.  To be quite honest, I don't think there is much of a difference in terms of eyeshadow application or performance between the two formulations. I still like them very much! I was nervous to try the reformulated formula, because I was afraid it wasn't going to be as pigmented.

Overall, I really love this palette. Everything was just on point- the pigmentation, color selection, quality and wear! I was very happy that the reformulation did not affect the eyeshadow quality at all. Natasha Denona's eyeshadows are some of the highest quality in my makeup collection, and for a very good reason: they are truly worth it! If you are looking to invest in a very high quality eyeshadow palette, look no further than this palette!
