Review: CoverFx Custom Enhancing Drops
I've seen these products all over Instragram way before it was set to come out. But who can really resist? This is a high metallic-shine highlighter, which is pretty much all the rage right now in the beauty community. What drew me in to try out this line is their color range: they are beautiful skin tone metallics that will definitely complement different skin tones.
I already own quite a bit of liquid highlighters, and I always find it interesting how new products compare with existing products in the market. I also liked the idea behind the CoverFx Custom Drops and the wide range of uses you can use these products in. Because of this, I decided to grab 2 colors of the highlighter from the Sephora VIB sale.
These highlighters retails for $42.00 for 0.5oz of product and comes in 6 different shades. The Custom Drops line were made to be mixed with other makeup products, and so they are formulated to be concentrated with pigments. You have an option to apply this product straight up as a liquid highlighter or mix it in with your moisturizer or foundation for a more subtle all over glow.
First Impressions
What I liked about this highlighting drops, compared to the rest of the ones available in the market, is that the formulation is quite thin despite being very pigmented. This makes it easy to work with and blend on its own or with other products. I actually tried using it as a traditional liquid highlighter, and didn't find a problem working the product onto my skin and make it look flawless despite how pigmented it was. It also felt very light and looked great underneath powder highlighter. I also tried to add a little bit of Sunkissed to my foundation and found that it really helped give me a glow without looking too heavy or changing the consistency of my foundation.
The Verdict
I really like the CoverFx Custom enhancing drops! As far as liquid highlighters go, I think these are one of the best ones I've tried in the market. The formula is quite thin, weightless and easy to work with. I didn't have to worry about them disappearing right after blending it to my skin, like I have with some liquid highlighters. The best part about this is that it did not separate from the foundation as I wore it throughout the day, and when I wore it on its own the highlight stayed on for the entire time I wore it, no fading, whatsoever. If you 're a fan of a poppin' highlighter then this is definitely the product for you! I tried wearing it concentrated once, and it made my highlight pop without looking very tacky or glittery. I'm actually toying with the idea of mixing some of this with my body moisturizer to create a very glowy skin. I have not tried it out, and my only concern is the product transfer, but I will let you know about it once I do!
Have you tried any of the CoverFx Customs Drops line? What do you think about them?
