Favorites: January and February 2017

Happy Humpday everyone! It is finally March and we are getting closer  and closer to Spring! I am very excited to share with you today my new favorites for the month of January and February. I was able to try a few beauty and non-beauty items that I really enjoyed using throughout the past 2 months! This Winter season has been unusually warm here in Chicago. We haven't really had real snow here in Chicago for January and February which is quite concerning. I honestly do not mind it though, because I usually commute to go to the city. Anyways, I've been very into simple and subtle makeup lately with more focus on perfecting my skin and just doing my brows and lashes. I have been into some bright pops of colors, too, which is unexpected, but hey, I'll blame it on the weather! ;)

Beauty Favorites:

  1. Tom Ford Foundation Stick - I love this foundation for an everyday natural look! When I'm not working at counter, I usually just do my brows, mascara and foundation. This has been my go to foundation because it feels light and I can apply a sheer amount and not feel so made up.
  2. MAC 138 Brush - This powder brush has been everything for me when it comes to powdering my face! I love how it's tapered at the end and so I can get it around all the little corners of my face with no trouble.
  3. MAC Bunny Beams Lipstick - I've been so into the deep neutral trend for lips for the last few months that I haven't really worn other lip colors unless my look for work requires it. I can't remember the last time I've worn bright pink/magenta lipstick, but this color came out with the Colour Rocker collection and I'm in love with it! This will definitely be my Spring staple lip color! Just perfect for a pop of color, without being too much!
  4. Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer - I decided to grab a sample of this primer while wandering around Sephora. I'm very skeptical with mattifying primers because most don't really work on my very oily nose area. I tried it for a few times and realized how much it significantly helped keep me matte on my t-zone. Once my sample ran out, I immediately ordered one for myself and have been using it for the entire month of February.
  5. MAC Half Lash Curler - I've always been curios to try this half lash curler. When I went to a MAC store in January, I decided to get more info about this product and one of my MAC girls told me that they are perfect for really curling lashes especially if they tend to be straight or not hold curls as well. While my lashes have a decent curl to them, I do notice that they tend to not hold their curl as well. I decided to get it, and oh my gosh this lash curler is life changing! It curls my lashes so well, and it stays that way til the end of the day. This products has definitely become an everyday staple to me!
  6. MAC Prolongwear Eye Pencil in Definedly Black - I've been in love with this eyeliner for a few year now but I ran out of it late in December, with no backups, and the MAC store by me has been out of stock. I was probably without this eyeliner for almost 2 weeks, and it was then that I realized how much I really love this product. None of the alternatives worked as well and stayed on as long on my waterline as this one. So now, I make sure that I have at least 3 backups just in case!
  7. MAC Shadescent in Creme d'Nude - I can bathe in this perfume, seriously! I just love the musky vanilla scent it gives. How I describe this perfumes' scent to everyone is that, it's like being enveloped in a warm hug! It's a perfect scent that smells very pleasant with a touch of sophistication.
  8. MAC Pigment in Rose - This pigment is just the perfect pop of color on the lid. It's a rose shade that has a gold metallic sheen, and can be worn with very warm berry shades or neutral browns, if you want to tone it down. I've been really into pinks and rose shades lately, and I don't think this is going away anytime soon. (Hmmm, is this a spoiler for the next edition of favorites already?)

Non-Beauty Favorites

  1. CorePower Yoga Sculpt - I live by a CorePower Yoga Studio and have been loving the challenge this class gives my body. This class is not your typical yoga class. It uses some yoga principles and postures and adds weights to them to give your body a full-workout. You will be showering in your own sweat in this class, and it's not just because of the heat, but rather also the workouts you do in class.
  2. Soul Cycle - This class is the perfect class if you want to get in some good cardio! I am addicted to Soul Cycle! It's just the perfect class to really push yourself when doing cardio; the music is bumping and your instructor does a really good job to motivate you to push yourself harder and give you a good workout! I try to come at least 2 times a week because it is that good and worth every penny for each ride!
  3. Zella - I've been so into working out lately that most of my purchases have been for new workout clothes! Zella provides very high-quality workout clothes that are cute and don't break the bank.
  4. My Fitness Pal - I've started writing down my meals everyday for the entire month of February as part of my weight loss journey. Writing it down really helped me put everything in perspective in terms of how much I'm eating and what kind of foods I'm really eating.
  5. Pineapples - I am beyond obsessed with pineapples! They taste so good and refreshing and just the perfect dessert wen I'm trying to keep it light and not go over my calorie goal for the day!
  6.  Day Designer A5 Planner - I've been loving this new planner set up! It is definitely the perfect planner for me. I've tried a few planners throughout the years and this layout definitely accommodates my planner needs. The best part about it is I can add my own A5-size printable if there's anything I want to add to it. Stay on the lookout for a review and update of this planner on Friday!
  7. Tapas - Spanish tapas is what I've been craving for in the month of January and February, when my friends ask me where we should eat if we're eating out.  I just love the delicious taste of their food and the smaller servings that's meant to be shared. You get to taste more types of food, while not overly indulging on the calories!

What I'm looking forward to in the next few months:

  1. DC Trip and Cherry Blossoms - This year for my Spring break, I am going to DC for the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms! I've always wanted to go and am so glad to finally go this year! What's also exciting is this will be my first trip with my closest cousins, and we will be on our own!
  2. Too Faced Highlighters - I've been eyeing these Too Faced heart highlighters! I really love the colors that they will be releasing and will most likely get all of them. #sorrynotsorry

I just realized, after writing and reviewing this post that most of my beauty favorites have been MAC products! I really didn't plan for that, but come to think of it, I've really been falling back in love with so many of my MAC products that I've taken for granted. While other brands may come with something flashy and trendy every other minute nowadays, MAC's permanent line of products are so full of staples that are just fantastic in quality. I do not say that just because I work for MAC, but rather as someone who has been a MAC addict who has followed the brand for almost 9 years now.

Anyways, let me know below what your current favorites are or if you have any makeup recommendations!
