Review: Huda Beauty Liquid Lipsticks

I've finally gotten my hands on these liquid lipsticks! I have wanted to try them since they were first announced last year, but never got around to getting them because they were sold out and I really wanted to see them in stores first before I take the leap and purchase them. Towards the end of January, I was able to see a few of the colors in stores an got the shade Trophy Wife first. After trying out this shade, I decided to order a few more colors online.

These lipsticks comes in 16 shades and are sold for $20 for 0.042 oz of product. They are mainly sold at hudabeauty.com and Sephora. This liquid lipstick is touted for it's lightweight and comfortable formula, while still infused with an "exclusive complex" that still helps lips from dehydration. Now, we all know this, it doesn't matter what brand  liquid lipstick it is, it will most  likely dry out your lips eventually after wearing it. So to me, these type of claims get a bit of an eyeroll and I just disregard them. For me, the key to wearing liquid lipsticks is prepping your lips by exfoliating and hydrating accordingly before wearing them.

Application

What I really liked about this formulation was how thin and light the formula was. It is another one that reminded of the consistency of my favorite liquid lipsticks from Stila. It applied very smoothly and felt very comfortable and did not dry out my lips as it dried. I did find that I had to layer on a bit more product to get a full-coverage as it was not opaque in one swipe. This wasn't a really a deal breaker for me, although some may find it annoying.

Wear

I wore the color Muse for dinner and evening out with my family. Withinfive minutes of the product drying, I already knew that I really like the formulation! It felt smooth and comfortable on my lips. It did not leave a weird texture as it dried, and I was able to ignore that I had liquid lipstick on for the rest of the evening. My lipstick also stayed put and lasted after dinner and coffee and desserts, although admittedly, due to all the eating, the product faded a bit by the end of the night. I would say this product probably has a wear time of 5-6 hours, without budging. Now, remember my skepticism about the moisturizing aspect of the product? Well, let me tell you that it is probably one of the few liquid lipsticks in the market that did not dry out my lips at all by the end of the night, and dare I say, kept it  semi-moisturized! I wore Bombshell the next day to see if I get the same results, and the formulation pretty much wore as well as it did the night before.

Final Verdict

I really love these liquid lipsticks, from their packaging then their color range and to their formulation! I definitely recommend trying out this formulation as it is definitely worth the money, heck, I'm definitely buying more colors from this line myself. I also want to add that Huda Beauty also released a line of lipliners that have colors that match a lot of the colors on the liquid lipsticks line, in case some of you are into a "lip kits" type of thing.

Now, I know the big question for some of you is, how this compares to my Stila Liquid Lipsticks, because it is my favorite liquid lipstick of all time and I do tend to make that the comparison point for pretty much any liquid lipstick I try out. The answer is, while I love the HudaBeauty Liquid Lipsticks, it does not trump my love for the Stila liquid lipsticks, however, it comes as a very, very close second. The main reason for this is that everything was pretty much up to par in terms of formulation and wear, however, the color opacity was not the same for the two products. While I do not mind that the HudaBeauty Liquid Lipsticks were not as opaque as the Stila Liquid Lipsticks in general, in terms of comparing both of them it become a bit more relevant as they are closely similar in all other aspects.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy my review and let me know in the comments if you've tried any HudaBeauty products and what you think about them!
