Upcoming Beauty Releases: Fall and Holiday Edition Wishlist

If you’ve been spending time in social media lately, you’ve probably been subjected to countless posts and promotions for the hottest new makeup releases for the Fall and Holiday season. While I enjoy seeing all of the new makeup releases and get excited with new colors and products, lately I’ve just been feeling overwhelmed. I find I always go through the process of excitement, “OMG! I must buy everything!”, to skepticism “Do I really need all this?” and then to observation “Let me see til I see more reviews”. Anyone else feel the same way?

Now, most people complain because of the overwhelming amount of releases, not only is it hard to keep up but it can also get really expensive. For a while, I struggled with this too, but now I’m thinking the oversaturation of makeup products can actually be an advantage. Too many makeup releases means a higher supply and a tighter competition. For the most part, new products will tend to not sell out right away (there are a few exceptions of course), which gives you more time to really think about the product, seeing and swatching them in stores and watching their reviews to decide if they’re worth it, especially now that most brands are coming up with similar products/color stories. The best part, most companies have gotten into the habit of restocking when products do sell out, so there’s not this much frenzy to buy right away and gives you the chance to be more selective.

As with most Holiday makeup releases, most of them are eyeshadow palettes that tend to be more sparkly, and value kits and sets which are made up of minis of a brands bestselling products. After searching some swatches all over instagram, I’ve compiled a list of products on my wishlist. Do I really need anymore makeup? Of course not, but I am addicted to buying makeup and I never pretended that I’m reasonable when it comes to buying more of it, so here we are! (Whoops..LOL!) I most likely might change my mind on some of them, but for now, here are some of the products I’m looking forward to checking out and trying for the coming season.

Definite Yes

ABH Sultry Palette - I love ABH palettes, I pretty much tend to buy them and this one is no exception. I mean can we talk about the beautiful beige gray color scheme?! ABH usually does so many warm colors, so this was a pleasant surprise! Definitely looking forward to getting this and try it out!

Marc Jacobs O!mega Glaze All Over Foil Luminizer - I am allover this highlighter! I know I have a lot of them already, but the shine is irresistible! The gold will definitely show on me if I use this as a regular highlighter, so I’m most likely going to use this as body highlighter, especially when I’m tan. I mean can you imagine popping this bad boy on your shoulders?

Huda Beauty New Nude Palette - Love the color selection of this palette! I’m already dying over the pearly metallic eyeshadows! I’ve always loved her palettes and I am so looking forward to trying this one! Definitely buying this the moment it comes out.

Viseart Grande Pro 2 Palette - I was so on the fence about these palettes, but after seeing countless reviews and swatches, I think I’m going to bite the bullet and get this very soon! I’m just such a sucker for metallic and shimmery eyeshadows and this one is just so hard to pass up and a perfect complement to the Grande Pro 1 palette. The good thing is I’m planning to attend The Makeup Show in Chicago, so I’ll see first if they have this at a special price and decide then.

Pat McGrath Opulence Holiday Palettes - So, I’ve been int such a big Pat McGrath purchasing spree lately, and honestly, I think I’m most likely going to get these palettes. I just love how creamy and pigmented her eyeshadows are and the colors! She also makes it so easy to buy them as a whole collections with his kit values. HELP!

Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold Highlighting Palette - I’ve been wanting to try her Bar of Gold highlighters but have been hesitant because I really don’t need anymore highlighters especially for their price, however, having them in palette form is what convinced me to get them — afterall, I can’t resist a good deal! ;)

On the Fence/Maybes

Natasha Denona Safari and Gold Palette - On the fence about both of these palettes to be honest! I love the color concept and stories for each of them, but the Gold looks like I’ll probably find similar colors in my collection already, and the reviews of the Safari palette have been mixed. Also, there’s an awful lot of gold metallic variations in the gold palette, and not sure how I feel about that. Definitely will have to see them in person first and then I might wait til they go on sale before I decide to purchase them.

Pat McGrath Lip Fetish Lip Balm - I love the formulation of Pat McGrath’s lipsticks and I like the idea of a tinted lipbalm that almost goes on as a super hydrating lipsticks, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how these swatch and feel on the lips. The only thing holding me back from trying these products is that I’m not sure if I’m willing to spend $28 for a tinted lipbalm. I mean, I would much rather get her MatteTrance lipstick for that price.

Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette - I originally was meh about this palette, but after seeing the reviews and swathes, I think this might be her most interesting eye palette that she offers.

Too Faced Gingerbread Spice Palette - Still on the fence about this one but I really love the color selection! they’re quite warm and mauve-y which I’m liking a lot. Also, I really like how creamy the too faced eyeshadows are. Will have to check it out and swatch at Sephora.

Huda Beauty Precious Stones Obsession Palettes - I want to get them all! I’ve always liked her smaller eyeshadow palettes, and the color story of this collection is just fantastic and actually really good compared to the current launches coming out.

Fenty Avalanche Allover Metallic Powder Set - I’m a sucker for loose eyeshadows/pigments and glitters, so of course I like the idea of getting this set, however, I’m not 100% sure I’m digging the color collection because they’re not really the color scheme I tend to wear, although let’s be honest, it’s not like pigments that are colors that I tend to wear gets much use to begin with. (LOL!) I guess this will be one of those products that I’ll need to swatch it myself first before I buy it.

Urban Decay Naked Cherry - I’ve been seeing a trend of these mauvey-red eyeshadow palettes this holiday season. Honestly, I love the color scheme of this palette, but I’m just not sure if I’ll be using them a lot. I tend to notice that this color scheme can look kinda harsh against my more golden-toned skin, especially now that it’s winter and I’m not as tan. I might end up getting this for my kit, if anything.

Marc Jacobs See-quins Glam Glitter Shadows - Most likely will pick a few colors to pick up, but I’ll have to see them in person first. These super-metallic semi-loose eyeshadows always get me because I love using them on my inner lid.

Anastasia Holiday Glitters - I love to collect glitters and also incorporate them to my looks especially Holiday ones. I like how these ones have opaque colors to them and the size seems very fine. I think I’m definitely going to pick up a few of the colors that they have.

Astrology by Bite Mini Lipstick Set - I really like this line-up of mini lipsticks! I love Bite lipsticks in general and I may not be able to resist this set especially because of how much I like the color selection.

Hard pass

Kat Von D Fetish Eyeshadow Palette - I usually buy KVD’s Holiday palettes in the past few years, but this palette just did not speak to me. The color scheme is great, but definitely not something different than the once she’s come out with in the past few launches. I do like that this palette is a reasonable size though, since her Holiday palettes tend to be ginormous and hard to store.

Fenty Kilawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Palette - I love the neutral colors in this palette, but I do not understand why most of the palette’s highlighters are in that blue/purple icy tone. I mean I get that some people wear those colors, but I just don’t see myself wearing those aside from Halloween. I guess you can use the more blue-toned highlighters as an eyeshadow if you really want to make use of the entire palette though, however for me, these kinds of palette tends to be a hard pass.

Tarte Pineapple of My Eye Set - I’m a little confused with how this palette came to be released this time of year. I think the Pineapple theme would be better suited for the Spring/Summer season since it reminds me more of tropical/warm weather. Also, the color selection doesn’t even go with the pineapple theme because I would’ve expected some more brighter color/pops of color, but instead you get a lot of champagne-y colors and deeper neutrals that just look muddy when swatched.

As you can see, I have quite a bit of a products to check out and I may still even change my mind on many of them. I’m definitely planning to take advantage of the Sephora Beauty Insider Sale or any other holiday sales that the brands might have before I decide to buy any of them. What Holiday release are you most excited to try out? Did I miss any items that’s on your list? Let me know in the comments!
