Review: Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette

So, as some of you might know, I've been anticipating this palette for a bit now. I was very much intrigued by the new shadow formulations and the color theme of the palette is quite unique. Unfortunately, when it first released at Huda Beauty, I was not able to purchase it because it sold out immediately. However, I was aware that Sephora was going to stock it in the beginning of November, so I waited for it patiently; the best part about this is that I managed to get it during the VIB Rouge sale for 20% off. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to swatch the heck out of the shadows once I got them and also do an eye makeup look, which I immediately did the very next day that I got them.

The palette retails for $65 and contains 18 eyeshadows; each shadows weigh 0.035 oz/0.99 grams.  Let's start off with the color scheme of the palette. Like I've said before, I'm really into this very warm, berry type of palettes. I think Huda Beauty really hit the mark with the color scheme in the palette because the color choices go perfectly with each other and I can do an entire look without the need to use other eyeshadow shades outside of the palette. This however might be because of my skintone. I am more on the medium tan skin shade and there are more medium to dark shades in the palette than pale ones. I can see this becoming an issue especially if your skintone run on the fairer side.

As for the new textured shadow formulation that gave more texture to the eyeshadows, let me just say I am in LOVE and want more shades to come out. I immediately got compliments with my eye makeup because of the shiny-textured effect they gave to my look. I do want to address that at first, I used a flat brush to apply them and they didn't really look like much, but then I tried using my fingers to apply them and boy, what a difference that application technique accomplished! It may look chunky and uneven at first after you pat down the shadow on your lids, but give it a few moments and it will start settling and blending in with your look.

Overall, this palette is probably one of my favorite palette releases from this year. I am so in love and obsessed with it. I think it's giving my MacxNordstrom C'est Chic palette a run for it's money! As some of you may know, that has been my go to palette since it released in July, but recently I've been using the Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette more and more. I am hoping that Huda expands her makeup line to individual shadows, especially the textured shadows! Hopefully, there's more exciting upcoming products from this brand in 2017!

P.S. Be on the lookout for an upcoming makeup post using this palette!
