makeup lessons
My years of experience doing makeup professionally has given me the opportunity to teach my makeup techniques to some of my clients that have inquired about makeup lessons from me. These makeup lessons have allowed my clients to do makeup on their own for everyday purposes or when I’m not available to do their makeup for special occasions. Working for MAC Cosmetics gave me a lot of teaching opportunities and the background to create a lesson structure to teach my clients on how to do their own makeup. Note that all lessons are meant to be taught for personal application purposes only, and do not give you any sort of professional certification or credit, although these basic skills can definitely be used as a foundational skillset to dive deeper into professional makeup artistry.
When you are looking to book a lesson package with me, each will be one-on-one and comprised of 2 parts, the first part is where we talk about your past experience with makeup/skincare, what you currently use and your goals for our lesson appointment, the second part is where I teach you how to do your makeup on one side of your face and then have you do it on the other side of your face as I guide you.
I am a big believer that perfecting your makeup technique means practicing regularly, and so I offer my clients an option to add a second follow-up appointment where I observe you doing your complete look, and then I give you feedback and extra guidance on how to refine your techniques. I recommend getting this done at least 1 to 2 weeks after the first appointment; that way you have enough time to practice what you’ve learned for a certain amount of time and can come back with questions for me to help you refine your technique.
You are also welcome to send me progress photos for feedback or contact me for any questions in between your appointments as you are expanding your personal makeup skills.
Lesson packages include an informational packet that you can take notes on and take home with you. I have also catalogued a library of online resources and tutorial videos to help guide you on your own as you develop your own makeup skill at home.
Due to the fact that additional makeup products may be required to complete your look, all lessons are done at my home beauty studio in Lincoln Park.
All makeup and tools are provided for in-class use only. I will provide a recommended list of products and brand suggestions that you will be able to refer to while you are still building your own makeup products.
$100 deposit to book lesson appointment. Deposit is nonrefundable. The rest of the payment is due at the beginning of your appointment.

Freestyle Lesson
Freestyle Lesson - $175 per hour**
The freestyle lesson format is designed for anyone who has some basic makeup knowledge and application skill but is interested in refining their techniques or diving deeper into a certain skill or look that they want to master. This lesson does not have a pre-designed structure, so the format will solely be based on what you are interested in learning.
When a freestyle lesson is booked, a consultation is conducted via email or phone call to make sure that your learning interest will be properly covered, shown and instructed. We will also be discussing the recommended appointment duration needed for the actual lesson to accomplish your goals from this appointment.
Some freestyle lessons I’ve done in the past covered how to do a double-wing and cut-crease eye makeup, mastering creme contour and highlighting without the cakey look, and foundations of stage makeup for performances. I can also do a freestyle lesson format for those who seek to learn the eye and face makeup basics but just want the learning component of it and not the feedback and follow up appointments.
**One hour minimum to book. $50 deposit due after consultation to be able to secure an appointment date. The rest of the payment is due at the beginning of the first appointment.
