Wedding Previews
What is a bridal preview?
It’s exactly what it is named — a preview of your bridal makeup and hair look to help you fully envision how you will look for your wedding day! It is also where we test the wear of you makeup and hair throughout the day, so we can adjust products and techniques on the day of to best suit you and ensure a long-lasting look for your big day. During your preview appointment, you and your artist will collaborate to create a look that will suite you best for the wedding day based on your wedding details/inspirations and your specific skin and hair type. While your artist/stylist may be experts in makeup and hair, we know that you are the expert on yourself, what you like/dislike and if there are products that tend to not work for you. The bridal preview is where you and your artist/stylist will come together to iron out those details.
Because of this collaborative process, we always recommend our brides to anticipate previews to take between 60-90 minutes per service. Your bridal previews are not only where your stylist create your wedding day look, but also do minor adjustments to the looks they have created to fully customize it to your liking. For our brides who haven’t decided on a hair accessory yet, we invite them to play with our accessories in-studio and see which types look best for their hairstyle.
Why is it necessary?
Here at KElse Artistry, we want to prioritize giving you a stress-free morning on your wedding day so you are able to fully enjoy your big day. One of the ways we are able to deliver that is by requiring our brides to do a Bridal Preview 6-10 weeks before their big day. The reason is simple - when you have a bridal preview we are able to ensure that you love the makeup and hair look you’ll be getting for the wedding day and ensure that the makeup and hair will last throughout your big day. We also get so much feedback from your preview, which helps us adjust our products and/or technique for your big day. Your preview is where we iron out these details, so that our final work - the look you’ll be wearing for your entire wedding day and will be immortalized by your wedding photos- is flawless! You do not want any last minute surprises during your wedding morning that can potentially stress you out, and bridal previews solves that for our brides, so you can just soak in your wedding!
When are bridal previews scheduled?
We normally like to schedule bridal previews 6-10 weeks before the wedding day. We find that this is the best window for our brides and the most productive, as final wedding details are finalized by then, and your hair and skin are usually closer to what their wedding day condition (hair length/skin color and type that may change seasonally) will be like. About 3-4 months before their wedding date, our brides will usually get an email from us to schedule their bridal preview appointment.
How do I prepare for my bridal preview?
The best way to prepare for your bridal preview is to do a light physical exfoliation on your face the night before your appointment and come with a clean face to your trial. We will do a proper skincare prep for your skin at the preview, so no need to do your entire skincare routine, unless you are particular with your skincare products. For your hair, feel free to wash your hair the day/night before and blowdry your hair smooth (no flat ironing); come with your clean & dry hair to your preview.
In terms of what to bring, definitely bring any inspiration photos of your hair and makeup vision and also photos of you in your dress. You are also welcome to bring hair accessories and veil you intend to wear for your wedding day. Haven’t decided on a veil or hair accessory yet? No problem! We have an array of hair accessories and veil you can try out at the studio to help give you a better idea of what type of accessories will work best for your hairstyle.
