Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Swatches and Review

I've been anticipating the arrival of the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks since Spring. I've always wanted to try out her lipstick line, however, I never really had the chance to visit a Charlotte Tilbury counter in Chicago because the closest one is located downtown at Michigan Avenue. Now that I go downtown often because of school, I decided to visit the Charlotte Tilbury counter at the Nordstrom at Michigan Avenue. Initially, I only wanted to check out a shade in Love Liberty because Kristina from PrettyShinySparkly raved about it in her September favorites video. Well, what was supposed to be a one lipstick purchase turned out to be a lipstick haul!

While I was there, I had the chance to speak with the rep from Charlotte Tilbury and she explained to me that unlike most matte lipsticks in the market, their Matte Revolution lipsticks are hydrating matte lipsticks that have buildable medium to full coverage and are also long-wear. This discussion came after I pointed out to her that the swatches I got on my hand after one swipe were not as opaque as the photos of lip swatches on their counter.  She also mentioned that they do address this in a tutorial video (I believe posted on their website) and show how to achieve the very opaque look that their promotional photos have. At first, I wasn't keen on the idea of its buildable coverage, however, after wearing the lipsticks for a few times and pairing them with different lipliners, I fell in love with them!

What made me love them so much is that the buildable coverage gave me a lot of options to wear the lipstick, in terms of its intensity, and they also wore really well throughout the day! To add to that, these lipsticks feel luxurious and very hydrating on my lips - something that is quite rare in the matte lipsticks arena. The only other brand I know of that have very comfortable matte lipsticks are Tom Ford and Chanel- both of which are high-end luxury brands. This lipstick retails for $32.00 each, which I thought was a good price for a high-end brand especially with how good the quality is! There's also 11 shades in this line, and I really hope Charlotte Tilbury expands the shade range in the near future, as I really loved the formulation of these lipsticks!

Anyway, here are the swatches of the lipsticks, note that the intensity of the swatches were reached after 2 layers.
