Review: Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter
They finally came in the mail! I've been eye-ing these Too Faced Highlighters since their photos got leaked on Instagram earlier this year. You all know how much I've been anticipating these beauties because of my previous post. Once they became available at Sephora, I stopped everything I did and ordered them pronto! They came in the mail last Friday and I've been testing them out over the weekend.
These highlighters are sold for $30 at Sephora and contains 9.07 grams of product. It comes in 3 colors: Blinded by the Light (Champagne), Ray of Light (Rose Gold), and You Light Up My Life (Gold). I originally planned to buy all three of them, however, when I saw the swatches, I decided against buying the gold one because it was too gold for me. These highlighters claims to have a liquid-to-powder, baked formula that offers a buildable pearlescent finish that will bring radiance to the skin and goes on smooth and silky.
First Impressions and Application
First of all, let me just address how beautiful these products are! I couldn't get over how pretty they looked and I almost didn't want to touch them so I could swatch them! Upon swatching them, I realized that unlike most highlighters that has been popping up lately, this product tends to be a bit more sheer and less metallic in finish, however, the shine that it gives is more of a very natural pearlescent finish that is definitely buildable. I knew right away that most people who are into a very poppin' Instagram-type highlighter may not like this product as much, however, to others who prefer a natural and radiant looking highlighter for everyday, this will definitely be a hit! I love both looks equally, however, lately, I've stripping down my everyday makeup to the bare minimum that I can to achieve a "semi-I woke up like this" look with a glowy twist, if you know what I mean, and so to me this product was definitely exciting to try out and wear! ;)
I applied this product with my favorite Real Techniques highlighting brush, which applied a soft pearlescent highlight to the tops of my cheeks. I must say, I just love how fine the product looked on my cheeks. My cheeks looked like they were just naturally glowing and radiant! True to the product claim, this definitely has that liquid-to-powder finish to it. I also tried to layer it on a bit the next time I wore it and the product definitely became more opaque without looking chunky or heavy on the cheeks. It still maintained a beautiful pearlescent, albeit more opaque, finish!
Wear
This product wore very well throughout the day, which was a pleasant outcome for me, because the sheerness made me a bit nervous about how well it would stay on and last in terms of fading. I wore it for about 8 hours both days I tried it on, for the first 4-5 hours, the product stayed put very well and gave me that beautiful glow that it had when i first applied it. At the end of it's trial wear-time, around hour 8, I did notice that the product has faded a bit, however, it still gave my skin a beautiful, almost candle-lit glow!
Final Verdict
I must say that I really recommend this product if you're into a more natural highlighter. I just love the radiance that it gives to the skin without being overdone. I also love how fine the product is which gives it a smooth finish on the skin. Sometimes, highlighters can tend to look chunky and make the pores look larger, however, this product won't give that look. This is also an ideal highlighter for people who tend to have larger pores on their cheeks but don't want to emphasize it with their highlighter! I love this highlighter so much that I've been using it pretty much every day since I tested them out! I highly recommend getting Blinded by Light for fair to medium skintones and Ray of Light for medium to medium deep skintones.
