Best of 2018: Lifestyle, Fashion, Tech, Etc!
As January wraps up, I’ve decided that it’s best to end the first of the year by talking about my Best of 2018 for Lifestyle, Fashion, Tech — basically, anything that is non-beauty related. I’ve really had some good lifestyle and fashion favorites from 2018, most of which I’m still loving now and definitely worth sharing!
Fashion
Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis in Monogram Empriente in Black - This purse is most definitely one of my favorite purchases from last year. I’ve been eyeing this purse for the longest time, but didn’t take the leap until the beginning of Fall this year. It’s very rare that I use a designer handbag on a day to day basis, but the quality and the versatility of this handbag just made it so easy to wear for the last 3 months of the year. J’Adior Slingback Heels - I’m obsessed with these Dior slingbacks! I first saw them on influencers allover Instagram and love how versatile they are. Recently, my goal with buying designer has changed from buying the latest dressy or flashy thing, to actually deciding how I can incorporate them to fit my lifestyle. These heels are very chic and comfortable to wear but can be worn with jeans or dresses and still look gorgeous and make a subtle statement. I wore them for my best friend’s wedding and was able to wear them comfortably without needing to switch off to a pair of flats until after 4 hours of wearing them.
Teddy Coat - I never understood why everyone was obsessed with Teddy coats until I realized how warm, comfortable and snuggly they feel! The best part is that Teddy coats are so popular right now that most stores have their own version of it for a great price! Mine are these Halogen ones from Nordstrom, and got them during a sale. Seriously, I would have never thought that I’d be wearing a Teddy coat regularly, but I can’t help myself, they’re so easy and comfy!
Nordstrom Pave Stud Earrings - I have these earrings in gold and rose gold! They’ve been pretty much the only earrings I’ve worn this year because I am so obsessed with how great they look! I like the high quality of the pave diamonds and that it doesn’t really tarnish even with everyday wear. There’s a similar version by Nadri that I used to wear all the time, but tarnished quicker. I figured I’d splurge a bit more on these versions, because the base material is sterling silver that's plated so the material can withstand tarnishing a bit better.
Room Service Sleepwear - I don’t normally rave about sleepwear, but the fabric that they use for their sleepwear is just so soft and comfortable! I have these pair of pajama shorts and a couple of their joggers and I love wearing them!
Splendid Faris Block Heel Sandals - Pretty much my going out sandals for the Summer that goes well with jeans, skirts or dresses! I have them in black and soft pink and love how comfortable they feel (I’m talking dancing for hours) and how easy they are to pair with any outfit. These style are in stock here, but these are pretty similar in style as well.
Longchamp Le Pliage - I don’t think I’ve used this tote bag as much as I have last year! It just fits so much of my extended everyday essentials (like my laptop, planner, pens and notebooks), became my travel companion tote bag from New York to Dubai to Maldive, and sometimes I even used it as my gym bag. Mine are the special edition ones that you can only get in Paris with the Eiffel tower screen print, however, you can get a regular one without the Eiffel tower print here. I’m thinking of adding one or two more colors in my collection! The price is a steal especially with how versatile and durable this tote is.
Express - Ever since I’ve lost weight, I’ve been obsessed with the clothes at Express, and I usually find a lot of good deals on great styles in stores. Little tip: wait til they do 30%-40% before purchasing your clothes to get them at even better pricing. What I love most about Express is that they’ve recently started expanding their sizes to accommodate plus sizes. I’ve gained back half the weight I’ve lost during the last half of 2018, and so being able to still shop the same style in a size bigger has been very convenient and important to me.
Lifestyle and Tech
iPhone X - Can we talk about how convenient FaceID is and how wonderful the new cameras in these are? I went on quite a few trips during the first half of 2018 and I found myself obsessively snapping pics with my iPhone! I love taking photos on Portrait mode and the screen is just as vivid and bright as ever!
Dyson Vacuum - I feel like I’m cheating by including this vacuum because I technically didn’t get this til December of 2018, but oh my gosh, has this been such a game changer! We moved to a townhouse with carpeting on all of it’s second floor, and had this old vacuum that required filter bags. Having this product just made it so easy for me to vacuum regularly throughout the week and I am so obsessed with vacuuming now, it’s become the task I look forward to doing during the week!
Nespresso DeLonghi Lattissima Pro Machine - I don’t know why it took me so long to use this machine after I bought it, but has this been another game changer to my routine! Yes, it’s pricey for a latte machine, but if you’re someone who spends at least $6 everyday at Starbucks, then getting this machine will pay for itself in its first 2 months of use! After getting this machine, I’ve only gone to Starbucks for coffee maybe once every 1-2 weeks now, and that’s only because I’ve ran out of milk and was in a rush, or if I was meeting a friend for coffee there. Ever since I got this, my favorite part of waking up is going downstairs to the kitchen to make myself an amazing cup of latte!
Bartenura Moscato - Found another favorite moscato brand! Obsessed with the one and it’s so easy to find and available at Target. Yes, I love my sweet white wine, don’t judge me!
Charcuterie Boards - All of my friends and family will tell you that my addiction charcuterie boards is real. Pretty much the automatic option I bring when I go to any potlucks that we have.
Podcast App - I have a confession… so I haven’t been listening to a lot of audio books this past year, and that’s all because I’ve been getting into podcasts lately. I’ve been obsessed with many business and self-development ones, and they’re just perfect with motivating and educating me, and I tend to listen to an episode as I drive. The ones I’m obsessed with is Freakonomics Radio and The Goal Digger Podcast!
Jenna Kutcher - Speaking of The Goal Digger Podcast, I am in awe of its creator and host, Jenna Kutcher! She’s a photographer turned media entrepreneur and she us just a rockstar! I love how educational her podcasts are and she has a lot of helpful webinar classes and online courses! If there’s an educator brand that I fully love and support, it would be Jenna’s!
