Fall Edit: Eyeshadow Palettes
Fall is finally creeping up on us and you know what that means? Pumpkin spice everything, cozy sweater weather, eating all the pies, trips to pumpkin patches and apple orchards and Halloween! My favorite part of Fall is how I can amp up the drama on my eye makeup and not feel like I have too much makeup or I’m too done up at all. In honor of the first day of Fall coming up tomorrow, what better way to welcome it than get a refresh of color options by switching up my eyeshadow palettes and get to have a bit more fun with my makeup looks!
If you remember, a few months ago I blogged about challenging myself with using new and often unused eyeshadow palettes I’ve been basically hoarding by creating a seasonal capsule selection of palettes for the Spring and Summer in this post. Sometimes having too many options can just make me feel overwhelmed and instead of getting creative with all the options I have, I end up sticking to my go-to palettes that I’ve been using for years instead of testing out my “newer” products. I really enjoyed having a limited set of palettes to choose from and found myself actually using my older palettes and figured I’ll go ahead and do a Fall edit as well. Originally, I thought I can do a rotation every month or so, but I actually ended up using the palettes for the entire Spring and Summer season, I’ve decided to do this seasonally, instead.
For this Fall season, here are some palettes I am planning to play with:
Natasha Denona Biba and Safari Palette - I love love LOVE Natasha Denona’s eyeshadow formulation and always end up getting her palettes because I always find them very well-paired and executed. I ended up caving in and getting these two palettes from Sephora’s Spring VIB sale but have only used them once, which is a shame because I do love the colors in these palettes. The Biba palette has the most beautiful selections of neutral brown and grays, while the Safari palette has the most beautiful selection of light and dark earthy-toned mattes that will just look well with more dramatic eye makeup.
Pat McGrath Mothership V Palette - When this palette came out last Holiday season, I was so drawn to the color scheme of the palette because it reminded me of a pretty popular MAC quad that came out 10 years ago, the Spiced Chocolate quad! If you’re a long-time MAC Girl, you know how popular that MAC quad was, and sadly I missed out on that one and MAC never came out with it again. The Mothership V seem to just have the right warm and chocolate brown tones, beautiful gold and bronze shimmers, and hints of coppery shades, that work very well with Fall colors, although this palette is definitely an extended version of the Spiced Chocolate quad. I actually have a wedding I’m attending next Saturday and I’m definitely planning to use this palette for my makeup look.
Huda Beauty Gemstone Obsessions Palette - I think this palette will be perfect as my pop of color palette for Fall, but with shades that has more depth and jewel tones. I can’t wait to use the deeper shimmer shades of blue, purple and green from this palette!
ABH Sultry Palette - This palette’s color scheme is very similar to the Biba palette, albeit it has more glittery shades and run more cool neutral. I’m planning to pop this palette over my freelance kit to use for some upcoming wedding makeup gigs. I can already picture how beautiful the shimmery shadows will pop on my brides’ makeups and their bridesmaids!
I tried to keep my selection of palettes smaller this time around as I may want to switch up my options around Holiday season and also for Winter. For this round of my capsule edit, I do want to upload more makeup looks on the ‘gram to keep you guys updated with makeup looks and hopefully inspire all of you to switch up your makeup. I think uploading them on stories will be more realistic for me, as it will feel a little more casual and won’t put too much pressure on me uploading closeup makeup photos and making sure they’re perfect. Maybe I’ll do a quick IGTV video, although I have to figure out how to do all that first, so no promises on that one.
What are your favorite activities to do during Fall season? Any favorite things about this season that you look forward to? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear more ideas and suggestions and chat about it with you!
