2016 Best of Beauty
A new year means another year has gone by trying many different beauty products, enjoying new products or rediscovering old favorites. I decided to do this post because I've only done bi-monthly favorites post for a few months, and so there were some months where I did not post any favorites at all. Some of the products here are recent favorites, while others I've been using for some time. There were products that I have not talked about for the months when I skipped favorites post, but really loved using and want to share to you. For 2016, these are the products that I've enjoyed using thoroughly throughout the year:
- Lancome Teint Idole Foundation - This has been my ride or die foundation for the past 3 years! I really am obsessed with it, and up to this day still get compliments on my foundation. The best part about this foundation for me is the fact that it is so easy to work with and shade 420 is a spot-on color match for me!
- La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation - I know, another foundation, but I couldn't resist adding this one because I really love the finish and coverage this foundation gives! My skin just looks so great with this foundation and everyone notices it too! This is definitely my special occasions foundation because the price point is just too high for everyday use.
- Etude House Brow Pencil - Discovered this wonderful product last March. It's very similar to the angled brow pencils that have been popping up lately, except they have a color that is a midtone gray which is a perfect match for my black hair. It just gives me brow definition without making it look harsh and it doesn't give of a reddish brown undertone that most brow pencils tend to give off.
- Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer - I really love this concealer. It is full-coverage, yet very blendable and light. I love using this for my under-eye area and it's pretty much the only undereye concealer-highlight I've been using all year.
- Chantecaille Longest Lash Mascara - A luxury mascara find that's #noregrets! The way it volumizes and lengthens my lashes makes them look so good, and then add to that fact that they help condition and grow your lashes with rose oil and their peptide technology and I'm just sold! I love it so much, I purchased them during Nordstrom's Mascara Madness to stock up and bought 2 mascaras and got 1 for free.
- MAC Prolongwear Lipliners - I like wearing them as lipliners for my lipsticks and liquid lipsticks as they help make them last a long time! I also like wearing them on their own allover my lips, with just a bit of lip balm. They are very creamy and very comfortable!
- Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks - By far my favorite liquid lipstick formulation! The formulation is very easy to work with and yet lasts a long time on me. I'm obsessed with the shade Patina and Firenze!
- MACxNordstrom C'est Chic x15 Palette - I have not stopped using this palette to do my everyday makeup since I got it in July. This is an all-matte eyeshadow palette that are filled with practical neutral colors that many women use for day to day makeup. I also have this palette in my artistry kit because it is that good!
- Kevyn Aucoin Contour Powder - Alas, I finally found the perfect contour shade that's not too cool but not too warm either! I used to have to use 2 different colors for contouring until I found this powder. I've been wearing this everyday since I got it around late Summer.
- Becca Moonstone Highlighter - I've been using this highlighter for some subtle shine on my brow highlight, inner eye corners and on top of Champagne Pop to just give it an extra oomph!
- Armani Prima Skin Primer - Also another great find from this year! I really love it as an allover face primer as it just helps make my foundation look smooth and stay on for a long time.
- Bite Agave Lip Mask - Finally, a lip mask that really hydrates and conditions my lips. I have a very bad problem with dry lips and really needed something to keep them hydrated. While this lip mask is a little thick, I really like how it hydrates my lips.
- MAC Oval 6 Brush - This type of brushes became really popular last year. What I love about it is how easy it is to use for foundation application and how well it applies the foundation!
- Chanel Contour Eyeshadow Brush #20 - This is my new favorite crease brush for my eyes. It's a tapered crease brush that's just perfect to do precise crease work especially if you tend to have a smaller eye.
- Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palettes - I love all of them! She first came out with 2 versions of the 28-eyeshadow palette and then came out with the Star palette later in the year. I like how pigmented, creamy and blendable these eyeshadows are. I tend to use these palettes in conjunction to my MAC C'est Chic palette. Definitely high-quality eyeshadows that's worth every penny!
- Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen - Finally found a new favorite daytime moisturizer last year. It helps smooth out my skin and also protect it from the sun as well. The best part? It feels very light and comfortable for daily wear!
- Velour Whispie Me Away Lashes - If I can wear lashes everyday, this will be the lashes that I'll wear. They just give the perfect amount of volume to my lashes without looking too dramatic. Some days, I can even get away with claiming that they're my natural lashes! LOL
And that is all of them! If you are wondering why some of my recent faves may not have made it on this list, it is probably because I've only used them for the last 2 months of the year and really want to give them more time before I really include them in this list!
